Lithium Battery Service | Golf Cart Lithium Battery | Repair Services

Our service location offers a variety of golf cart repairs and services for both electric and gas golf carts, including but not limited to electrical connections and repairs, customizations, installation of accessories (many of which can be purchased from Prime Cart Parts and then brought to our service center), engine maintenance and oil changes, and golf cart charger repair. Along with standard lead-acid battery systems, we also provide lithium battery service as well, which can range from replacing a lead-acid system with lithium, or repairing issues with already installed lithium batteries.

Lithium Battery Service

Conversion from lead-acid: If you’ve recently purchased a golf cart lithium battery and are unsure how to remove the lead-acid batteries and install the lithium, our team of technicians is available to swap out the batteries and connect all necessary cords and cables. Some lithium batteries are charged by plugging directly into an outlet or extension cord, while others will swap out your cart’s old charging port plug for a modern lithium compatible receptacle, or configure an OEM plug to match the new smart charger. We also provide the installation of the state of charge meter and (if needed) voltage reducer.

BMS troubleshooting and tuning: The battery management system (BMS) controls various internal systems of the battery, including monitoring cell balance, temperatures, and voltage limits. If a cart is shutting down prematurely, driving slower up hills, or not charging, it may be an issue with the BMS. Our technicians are trained to be able to connect and read the error codes given, and re-calibrate the cells, or update the internal firmware. The cart’s motor controller may also need an adjustment to safely and efficiently handle the sudden, sustained high amperage of lithium batteries.

Internal component maintenance: Depending on the brand of lithium battery, it may also require service on the charger, including repairs such as replacing blown internal fuses, swapping out failing capacitors, or repairing damaged DC cord plugs and frayed AC power cables.

Benefits of Lithium Batteries

Longer Lifespan: Lithium batteries can last for upwards of 10 years or more, while lead-acid batteries typically only last around 2 to 3 years when the cart is driven regularly.

Faster Charging Time: A lithium battery can recharge from a very low percentage to full in just about 5 hours, while lead-acid batteries can take up to 18 hours to fully recharge if they are very low.

Less Weight: Most lithium batteries typically weigh around 70 to 100 pounds, and only require one to power the cart. Installing a lithium battery will take off about 400 pounds of extra weight, and can possibly allow your cart to drive faster now that it’s not being weighed down.

No Maintenance: Unlike lead-acid batteries, which need to be refilled with distilled water every few months and have their terminals cleaned of corrosion, lithium batteries are sealed and do not require any maintenance.

Environmentally Friendly: Lithium batteries do not contain the same hazardous chemicals, such as lead and sulfuric acid, that lead-acid batteries do, and do not run the risk of giving off dangerous fumes when plugged in to charge.

On our new street legal golf cart rental site, Prime Golf Cart Rentals, where we’ve partnered with Journee for easy rental booking, the carts we use are all the newest Star golf cart models. With our Star carts, customers have the option of booking via the Journee reservation page, or coming to one of our store locations – either in Riviera Beach or Fort Lauderdale – to scan a QR code on the cart to rent it right there and then. Our scan-and-go method allows customers to rent a cart the same day in just a few minutes, by simply scanning the QR code sticker and downloading the Journee app, and then entering all necessary information (such as payment info, driver’s licenses, and insurance cards).

As street legal vehicles, Star golf carts have a variety of safety features, including headlights, taillights, brake lights, horn, turn signals, seat belts, and a maximum speed of 24mph. They also come with a variety of luxury features that set them apart from standard golf cart rentals, such as a high-capacity lithium battery, extra cushioned seats, a backup camera, and a Bluetooth soundbar. Our America EV T-Sport golf cart is a 6 passenger lifted golf cart assembled by our own specialty golf cart company, headquartered in Riviera Beach, Florida, and comes fully loaded with a 16-digit VIN number and a high performance 110 amp Bremark lithium battery. All safety features needed to make it a street legal low speed vehicle (LSV) are included – headlights, tail lights, brake lights, DOT windshield with wiper, DOT 3-point seat belts, a horn, and a speed range of 20-25mph. This cart is allowed on public roads that have a posted speed limit of 35mph or less.

About the T-Sport

Like other lifted golf carts, the T-Sport 6 passenger has large, bumpy tires with 14 inch rims, different from most other golf carts with 8 to 12 inch rims. Like most 6 passenger carts, it has 4 seats facing forwards – with additional storage space under the first row of seats -, and 2 rear facing seats on the back. These rear facing back seats also flip over to create a flat surface.

The body is made with a rust-proof, aluminum chassis and frame, along with heavy duty leaf springs and a center roof bar for the extended roof. As street legal low speed vehicles (LSVs), Star carts have all safety features necessary for road use, including headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, side mirrors, and seat belts. They also have registration, a license plate, and a title. Street legal LSVs can travel on roads that have a posted speed limit of 35mph or less, but can cross over roads with a higher speed limit, such as US-1.

When you book a rental using our Journee system, you can select which dates you’d like to rent, and if you want to pick up or have the cart delivered. You can also visit one of our store locations, listed on our website, to see the cart in person, and there will be a QR code sticker on it that you can scan with your phone. Once scanned, there will be a few more steps, such as payment and license verification (you must be at least 25 to drive a golf cart in the state of Florida), and in just a few minutes, once everything is finalized, the cart will unlock and be ready to drive.
